Brief about the journey

Blessed with breath-taking beauty and virgin forests is the state of Meghalaya, located in the North-Eastern territory of India. ‘Meghalaya’, that literally translates to the ‘abode of clouds’ in Sanskrit, is a land blessed with tropical forests and a flourishing range of biodiversity.

The aesthetic value and the culture of Assam marks it as one of the most eminent states of North-East India. It offers both a wide range of wildlife tourism and also city life. In fact, it has several temples and chiastic places for practising religion. The trip to Assam is pocket-friendly too. It doesn’t require a huge amount of money to enjoy the essence of Assam.


Detailed Itinerary

Day 1- Arrival at Guwahati - You will be recieved at the airport and transered to the hotel. If time allow, we will go for a cruise on the Brahmaputra. (Depends on the arrival time)

Day 2 - Guwahati Sightseeing Today you will visit the Maa Kamakhya Temple, followed by Umananda Temple, a visit to Kalakhetra folk museum and drop at Fancy Bazaar.

Day 3 - Guwahati - Shillong Proceed to Shillong. Enroute we will stop at the Umiam lake and Don Bosco Museum – which showcases the different communities of North East and their livelihoods. Evening is free for you to explore town or rest and relax.

Day 4 - - Shillong –Mawlynnong - Dawki - Cherrapunjee

Post breakfast, we start for Dawki. On the way, we visit the Elephant falls, a famous tourist destination. The name Elephant falls was given by the British as it is said that there was a elephant shaped rock near to the falls which got destroyed during an earthquake. Dawki is a small town in the west jaintia hills famous for the crystal clear Umgnot river. Enjoy boating in the fresh crystal clear river of Dawki. We also take you to the Indo – Bangladesh border from where you can see the Bangladesh soldiers guarding their border as well as the Indian soldiers in India border. After Dawki, we visit the Riwai Root Bridge and Mawlynnong cleanest Village and then proceed to the second wettest place on the Earth – Cherrapunjee.

Day 5- Cherrapunjee - Shillong

Today we drive back to Shillong. Enroute see the Nohkilikai Waterfalls and the less explored Mawsmai cave, located at a higher altitude of Sohra. While returning back, we also visit the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a sacred forest where the local believe that the local deity resides in the forest and guards their village. Upon arrival at Shillong, we check in into hotel. Evening you are free to roam around the city. You can explore the famous police bazaar of Shillong where you can get some traditional Khasi attires and experience the local Khasi delicacies.Overnight, stay at Shillong.

Day 6 - Departure to Airport

Today we drop you at the airport.
